Snakes and Ladders

Welcome to My Wayward Musings. We all know the game of snakes and ladders. Even as on today, it is probably the first board game introduced to children. As a child, I recollect being petrified to roll the dice, in the fear of being bitten by one of the pictorial-scary-slithering-creatures.. At a very young age, this simple game teaches us so much on life ahead. It teaches us to take a chance, a risk. It makes us understand that even though there would be many snakes in our life in the form of hurdles, there would also be enough ladders for us to get us out of them. It also teaches us that with every ladder that we climb up, there would be a new set of snakes. And in the midst of the new snakes too always look out for the ladder. If we twist this, from a game to a reality. What if, we encounter an actual snake in front of us? Would we know where and how to look out for the ladder? Hot Chai

The dawn of light, A new day shinning bright Morning blues, hangover from previous night, From the deepest slumber, to reality that bites, A strong fragrance awakens his drooping eyes, And he takes a sip of hot Ginger Chai. Messy house, clothes to wash, Vessels in sink, hungry mouths, Tired, irritated, frustrated, A minute break to jump-start is all that needs Recharged, energized, let's out a de-stressed sigh, As she sits on her favorite couch and sips in her hot Elichi Chai. Audits, Reviews, meetings at stretch, Deadlines due, budget low, situation is wretched, Calm and composed, yet alert and focused, He jots a plan, hopes rise high, While sipping-in the Hot Dalchini Chai. Sitting on a bench, in a narrow lane, Two hearts full of love, bodies drenched in rain, A promise, a proposal, a moment to forever cherish, A treat of crunchy kharis and nankatai to relish, Pockets almost empty, yet tears of happiness in the eyes, They cling their glasses And sip in...

Holi HAI!! #memorableinstances5.

I was raised in a home that was more spiritual than strictly religious. We were taught to be God-fearing, yes, but never rigid. Sunday Mass was something I genuinely looked forward to — especially because it came right after the famous Chitrahaar. That half hour of songs probably shaped my lifelong love for Bollywood’s golden and teenage era melodies more than anything else. . Since my father was a government employee, we lived in a staff colony — which meant my childhood was rich in something far more valuable than luxury: people. Our neighbours were a beautiful mix of religions and cultures. Abdul uncle’s sheer-khorma on Eid, Pednekar aunty’s besan laddoos during Diwali, the irresistible Kerala delicacies from my best friend’s home. I grew up tasting India before I understood it. My best friend's balcony was adjacent to our window from another wing. And so began the most innovative food delivery system long before apps existed.....through badminton rackets! Yes y...
