Welcome to My Wayward Musings. We all know the game of snakes and ladders. Even as on today, it is probably the first board game introduced to children. As a child, I recollect being petrified to roll the dice, in the fear of being bitten by one of the pictorial-scary-slithering-creatures.. At a very young age, this simple game teaches us so much on life ahead. It teaches us to take a chance, a risk. It makes us understand that even though there would be many snakes in our life in the form of hurdles, there would also be enough ladders for us to get us out of them. It also teaches us that with every ladder that we climb up, there would be a new set of snakes. And in the midst of the new snakes too always look out for the ladder. If we twist this, from a game to a reality. What if, we encounter an actual snake in front of us? Would we know where and how to look out for the ladder? Hot Chai

The dawn of light, A new day shinning bright Morning blues, hangover from previous night, From the deepest slumber, to reality that bites, A strong fragrance awakens his drooping eyes, And he takes a sip of hot Ginger Chai. Before the Birthday That Never Came

My father-in-law would have turned 80 next month. He missed his birthday bash by one month and a week. He lived his life well. He loved his family deeply…his children, his grandchildren, and me. Never once did I feel that his affection for me was any less than what he had for his own daughter. That kind of love is rare. Some years ago, we were attending a wedding in an area where one of his old friends lived. He suddenly remembered him and said he would love to meet him. But there were time constraints. We had to return. The meeting didn’t happen. Life moved on. Today, in his absence, we his children are planning his 80th birthday on his month’s mind day. Just the way he would have liked it.
